Alex started his career in the Royal Navy, and he's carried its discipline and attention to detail into everything since. After leaving the Navy he became a serial entrepreneur, building and growing several businesses of his own.
Like most founders, he knew LinkedIn was where his next customers were, and that reaching them properly took hours he didn't have. So he built a tool to do it for him: finding the right people, starting genuine conversations and following up every single day.
It worked. When he showed it to a friend who runs a recruitment agency, the reaction was immediate.
“This is a game changer.”
That conversation was the start of Uplyft. Towards the end of 2025, Alex took the tool he'd built for himself and shaped it around the way recruiters actually work, for new business and for candidate sourcing.
Demand came faster than anyone expected, and in the early days the team had to pause sales calls altogether.
“In those first few months we genuinely had to switch off sales calls. Demand was so high that the only right thing to do was look after the agencies we already had. It was a great problem to have. Because we put those agencies first, the majority of our business still comes through referrals from happy customers today.”
Since then Uplyft has helped more than 50 agencies win more clients and secure those hard-to-find candidates.
Today, our sales, development and administration teams are growing month on month, and Uplyft continues to attract some of the brightest minds in the software space, all focused on one thing: helping recruiters win more work with less effort.
